Lucknow Municipal Corporation Launches Intense Anti-Encroachment Drive, Illegal Stalls and Pushcarts Removed Across Multiple Zones

Lucknow — Under the supervision of  Mayor  Sushma Kharkwal and as per the orders of Municipal Commissioner  Gaurav Kumar, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation launched an extensive anti-encroachment campaign across several city zones to reclaim public spaces from unauthorized occupants.

Zone 6 Operations

Led by Zonal Officer  Manoj Yadav, a major drive was carried out in Husainabad and Kanhaiya Madhavpur (Phase 1) wards. Unauthorized meat shops operating in the open were removed. Encroachments including a makeshift taxi stand near the Sumaila Market water tank and other temporary structures at Buddheshwar Crossing were also dismantled.

Authorities cleared 10 handcarts and 6 illegal stalls during the operation. Offenders were issued warnings of stringent legal action if found re-occupying public spaces. The local police station was also notified to maintain continuous surveillance in the affected areas.

The drive saw participation from Tax Superintendent Vijay Shankar, Revenue Inspectors Om Prakash Yadav, Ashish Kushwaha, Mohd. Israr, and the enforcement team of Unit 296.

Zone 3 Clean-up

Zonal Officer  Amarjeet Yadav spearheaded operations in Purania Tiraha where scrap materials collected under the flyover were removed. In Indalganj and near Mohibullapur Railway Station, encroachments including 6 pushcarts, a metal counter, a paan kiosk, and other unauthorized structures were taken down.

Additional seizures near Janki Vatika Park included a kiosk, 2 electronic weighing machines, and 10 crates. Documentation of the operation was done through photographic evidence.

Major Action in Zone 5

A particularly large operation was conducted along Hardoi Road at Awadh Crossing, where unauthorized tempo/taxi stands were reorganized in coordination with Manak Nagar Police Station and Tax Superintendent Alok Srivastava.
From Chandan Nagar Underground Parking to Alambagh Metro Station, illegal stalls, counters, and vendors had occupied large stretches of pavement. Officials removed items including 2 iron benches, 1 counter, 2 LPG cylinders, and a wooden table.

This drive was led by Zonal Officer  Nandkishore, with Revenue Inspector Renu Yadav, Raju Kumar, and the active support of Enforcement Team 296. License fees were also recovered from offending vendors.

Zone 7 Action

As directed by the Municipal Commissioner, Zonal Officer of Zone-7 led a focused operation from Khurram Nagar Crossing to Vikas Nagar Turn and along Rahim Nagar Road, targeting unauthorized constructions over drainage systems.

Ramp encroachments at four locations were demolished and 1 handcart, 2 pushcarts, 4 kiosks, and 2 iron counters were removed. Offenders were issued firm warnings against re-encroachment.

Participants included Zonal Sanitation Officer Kuldeepak Singh, Tax Superintendent  Ram Achal, City Engineer  Ashok Yadav, Assistant Engineer  Ashok Kumar Singh, Junior Engineer  Divya Upadhyay, ETF teams, and Enforcement Squad 296.

Ongoing Drive

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation has stated that this anti-encroachment campaign will continue regularly to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and ensure the smooth movement of traffic and pedestrians across the city. The civic body emphasized its commitment to making Lucknow encroachment-free and livable.
